Travelling with Transport for Wales (TfW) has been a mixed experience for me. On the one hand, they offer an extensive network that covers a significant portion of Wales and beyond. The convenience of being able to travel to various destinations without needing a car is a huge plus. The trains are generally clean and the staff are usually friendly and helpful. I particularly appreciate the online booking system, which is straightforward and easy to navigate. The mobile app is also quite user-friendly, making it simple to check schedules and purchase tickets on the go.
However, there are some drawbacks that need to be addressed. One of the most significant issues is the punctuality of the trains. Delays are not uncommon, which can be frustrating when you have tight connections or important appointments. Another downside is the overcrowding during peak hours. It’s not unusual to find yourself standing for the entire journey, which can be quite uncomfortable, especially on longer trips. Additionally, while the trains are generally clean, there have been instances where the cleanliness of the carriages left much to be desired.
Despite these issues, I still find TfW to be a valuable service for getting around Wales. They offer a range of ticket options, including season tickets and discounts for students and seniors, which can make travelling more affordable. The company also seems committed to improving their services, as evidenced by recent investments in new trains and infrastructure. While there is room for improvement, particularly in terms of punctuality and overcrowding, TfW remains a convenient and largely reliable option for public transport in Wales.
